According to the “Hong Kong Clean Air Plan 2035″* published by the Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong, in the last 10 years from 2010~2020, we saw overall air pollution level dropping from the severe level in the past to improved level at present, however the concentration of harmful substances are still high including aerosol particulate, ultra-fine particle, NO2; while ozone is affected by photo\/chemical environmental factor and climbing up in certain district\/area.<\/p>\n

Carbon Monoxide (CO)<\/span><\/strong> \u2014\u2014 it will lower the O2 circulation level in red blood cell;
\nNitrogen Dioxide (NO2)<\/span><\/strong> \u2014\u2014 cause irritation to eyes, nose, throat and respiratory membrane, long term exposure can cause weakening in lung functions;
\nOzone (O3)<\/span><\/strong> \u2014\u2014 cause irritation to eyes and creates respiratory problem;
\nParticulate Matter (PM10\/PM2.5)<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u2014 When PM2.5 or even finer particular goes deep to the lung, it will affect our respiratory system, lung, cardio-vascular and brain function.\u00a0 <\/span>PM2.5 has been classified as Class 1 cancer causing substance;
\nSulfur Dioxide (SO2)<\/span><\/strong> \u2014\u2014 cause irritation to eyes and nose, we see more obvious symptom in asthma and respiratory disease patients;
\nLead <\/span><\/strong>\u2014 toxic, damage our nerve, kidney; it has <\/span>neurological effects in children.\u00a0 Infants and young children are especially sensitive to\u00a0lead exposures, which may contribute to behavioral problems, learning deficits and lowered IQ.<\/span><\/p>\n
